Creative Storytelling Techniques for Workshop Leaders

An international course about the use of stories and storytelling techniques in community work

Workshop leader: Nell Phoenix (UK)

Nell's storytelling workshops are lively, challenging and practical.
On this 2 day workshop, Nell will teach easily-grasped techniques to remember a story and lift a story off the page, to re-imagine it and share it with each participant’s unique vision and voice.
The course will also explore the premises, structure and content of a best practice applied storytelling workshop. Participants will examine boundaries, goals and personal strengths, as well as learning powerful techniques to ensure their groups active and willing participation.
The course aims to:

• Teach the basic stepping stones of oral storytelling
• Empower workshop leaders as storytellers
• Encourage workshop leaders to use storytelling as a creative teaching tool for group cohesion and self-expression
Nell’s workshops are taught through on-your-feet exercises, working solo, in small groups and whole group. The course aims, through tasks, games, discussions and structure, for sensory and intellectual engagement. Nell’s workshops stimulate new ideas and provide participants with skills that can be applied directly in any setting.

Nell Phoenix is an experienced workshop leader and runs highly acclaimed courses in London originally devised for University for the Arts London Central St Martins.
